January 6-8 and 13-15, 2012
We're creating 2 weekends of fun activities for Winterfest! Here's what you can expect over the course of the first two weekends of January:
January 6-8, 2012
Friday 5-8pm
- Head to Historic Downtown Chelan and enjoy music, hot chocolate and watch as the 2 tons of ice begin their transformation.
- Local "celebrities" turn their creativity to sculpting ice... you vote for the winner!
- Live music during First Friday from The Townsmen
- Catch artists in action at Coldwell Banker hosts Manson painter Patrick Mullins; Main Street Gallery features Chelan High School art teacher Sue Walker and daughter Morgan; Sprials hosts Anne Clausen and photographer Michael Keller will be at Whaley’s General Store.
- Bring the kids by the Lake Chelan Historical Museum for a fun activity.
- Don’t miss these First Friday Specials from local merchants: Aston’s Again for refreshments and storewide savings – part of their 3-day Grand Opening, buy 1 service and Get the 2nd half price (equal or lesser value) at Chelan Valley Spa, Company 107 is holding a Winterfest Blast Sale, Culinary Apple features fudge tastings.
Saturday - Sunday
- Ice Carving continues in Historic Downtown Chelan and snow sculpting begins around Lake Chelan.
- Hit the hills at Echo Valley for family-friendly skiing, snowboarding or tubing.
- Nordic skiing and snowshoeing on the Echo Ridge Nordic Trails.
- Explore the backcountry on the massive snowmobile trail system at Lake Chelan.
- Hit the slopes of Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort, just an hour South of Lake Chelan.

Friday
- 12-10PM: NCNB Ice Lounge Grand Opening, serving local wines and seasonal brews*
- 3PM-7PM: Wagon rides around Historic Downtown Chelan*
- 3-9PM: Kids activities at Snowflake Lane*
- 3-9PM: Ice Slide open, sponsored by Blodgett Construction*
- 5-10PM: Live Music sponosred by The Vogue on the Main Stage
- 6-8PM: Taste and vote on your favorite soup at Soupfest
- 6-9PM: Taste great food and over 40 Lake Chelan wines on the Winterfest Wine Walk
- 7PM: International ice sculptors begin sculpting
Saturday
- 7:30AM: Snowmobile Drag Race registration opens Canceled
- ALL DAY: Discover many works of ice art around the Lake on the Ice Art Sculpture Tour
- 8AM-10PM: Ice sculpting competition in Riverwalk Park
- 12-5pm: Wagon rides around Historic Downtown Chelan*
- 12-10PM: NCNB Ice Lounge opens, serving local wines and seasonal brews*
- 12-10PM: Live Music sponosred by The Vogue on the Main Stage
- 12-7PM: Kids activities at Snowflake Lane*
- 12-7PM: Ice Slide open, sponsored by Blodgett Construction*
- 3:30PM: Kids movie at The Ruby Theatre*
- 4-7PM: Taste great food and over 30 Lake Chelan wines on the Winterfest Wine Walk Wine Walk
- 7:30PM: Winterfest Fire & Ice Parade (download entry form for Parade and bring with you to the Parade lineup at 7pm at Wells Fargo Bank)
- 7:45PM: Polar Bear Splash & Beach Bonfire (download entry form for Splash)
- 8PM: Fireworks!
Sunday
- ALL DAY: Discover many works of ice art around the Lake on the Ice Art Sculpture Tour
- 9AM: Echo-Loppet, a friendly race to see who can cover the Echo Ridge Nordic Trails the fastest Canceled
- 12PM: Chili Cookoff at The Eagles (download entry form)
- 12-3PM: NCNB Ice Lounge opens, serving local wines and seasonal brews*
- 12-3PM: Ice Slide open, sponsored by Blodgett Construction
- 8AM-3PM: Final touches to ice carving and judging
